Hey there! It’s Friday which means another list of our favourite things from the past week. This week’s list features books, food and a quick and delicious but very quick cocktail recipe perfect for early September.
Books ~ David Brooks - The Road To Character
If you’re a reflective person, constantly on a mission to improve yourself and make your experiences count, David Brooks provides a roadmap for you. Much of what he writes focuses on character growth by comparing what the world thinks you should be with your own deeper personal characteristics. It leaves you feeling the same way you feel after reading Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist. All in all, it’s a great, inspirational read.
Cocktail ~ Frozen, Dark & Stormy
1 can of ginger beer
1 tbsp. fresh ginger
Juice of 1 lime
2 cups of ice
110ml (or ½ cup of dark rum)
In a blender, blend the ginger beer, fresh ginger, lime juice and ice until smooth. Pour into two glasses and float ¼ cup of the rum on top of each. Voila!
Restaurant ~ Amico Bio Italian Vegetarian Restaurant
Celebrations for vegetarians/vegans all over London! Amico Bio is a restaurant that keeps you in mind * heart sign * Here, they offer classic Italian dishes with a vegetarian twist. They also have on offer several gluten-free and vegan dishes, too. The menu changes daily based on what the head chef brings in from his farm in Italy, but a set meal with a bottle of wine will only set you back about £22.50. So, for a fabulous atmosphere and, more importantly, quality food, why not give Amico Bio a visit?
Theatre – Dinner At The Twits
To celebrate Roald Dahl at 100, The Vaults Theatre at Waterloo have put on an interactive theatrical dining experience with your hosts – you guessed it – The Twits! Adapted specifically for adults it gives you the chance to be wined and dined by the pair and eat at the world’s worst dinner party, serving up concoctions of Mrs Twit’s “potent punch” and Mr Twit’s “special brew”. Heads up, it is a little on the pricey side so if you have the resources, this is one not to be missed. So, if you’re a Londoner or are visiting - and you have the plums! – check out the official website and book your tickets now.
Music ~ Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, Logic, Ty Dolla Sign, X Ambassadors - Sucker For Pain
Yep, we know it was realised at the start of summer, but Sucker For Pain has got to be the movie soundtrack song of 2016 (even though the movie it was made for doesn’t quite match up to it * sips tea *). The video is brilliantly dramatic and so cool. Plus, it’s got Logic in it!
And there you have it, folks. This week’s Friday Favourites. Let us know if you’re a fan!
