With summer here it’s the time for rocking shorts, skirts, mini skirts or if you’re super bold and sassy, short shorts and micro skirts.
Whichever you prefer, one thing is certain: we want our legs to look fabulously sexy. If you’re not sure how to do it, we’ve got you covered. Here are some things you can do to get pins worthy enough to give Mariah and Britney a run for their money.
Walking is one of the most underrated exercises but it’s so important for you to know how walking can contribute to giving you great legs. It’s low impact, enjoyable, free, and for those of us who aren’t a fan of sweating during exercise (guilty!) non-strenuous. Walking regularly tones your bum, thighs and calves. To mix it up and get the best out of each session, you can try to take shorter but quicker steps; try longer distances and walking up hills or on soft surfaces such as grass or sand, which will make your muscles work that little bit harder and to stay motivated, get yourself a pedometer so you can set goals for every session and crush them.
Squats 30-day challenge
To get yourself a set of strong pins to rival one of the queens of fabulously sexy legs, Serena Williams, set out to start and complete a 30-day challenge. These work your glutes, thighs and core, so, what’s stopping you! It involves different squat variations which works different types of muscles as opposed to only doing one kind, which will only work the same muscles. Even if you start at the end of summer, it’s always great to get your legs looking toned and strong.

Some people are lucky enough to have hairless legs (Believe us, they do exist! We’ve seen these lady unicorns!) but for the vast majority of us, this process is vital. And for totally smooth legs, it’s important to use the best products and techniques. If you shave, go for triple or quadruple blade razors as the glide a whole lot better than single or double blade razors. Also, to keep stubble itch at bay, we find shaving across the grain of hair growth makes the growing out of hairs a whole lot more comfortable and prevents ingrown hairs. Try these recycled plastic eco-friendly triple blade razors by Preserve.
If you prefer to wax, sugaring is by far the best and most gentle for your skin. Used for centuries, not only is it an effective technique for hair removal that you can do yourself in the comfort of your own home, but it’s also eco-friendly.

There’s nothing better than the feeling of deliciously smooth skin after exfoliating. Talk about feeling super sexy! To keep your bare legs looking 100% in summer, it’s important to exfoliate more regularly than you would do during summer. There are plenty of great exfoliators out there, which essentially do the same thing. What’s important to remember is the technique. Exfoliating in gentle circular motion from top to bottom is guaranteed to help you exfoliate thoroughly but not so much that it leaves your skin red, raw and irritated.
You can make your own scrub or purchase one, such as this one by Lavera. Or you could purchase a body exfoliating brush, sponge or body gloves, like these by Boots Botanics.
After toning, hair-removal and exfoliation, moisturising your skin is the next step. It’s important to invest in a good moisturiser that can be absorbed into your skin and lock in moisture that will give you supple, soft and plump skin. Once you’ve finished in the bath or shower, pat your legs dry and apply your moisturiser while your skin is still damp. By doing this it makes it easier for your moisturiser to sink in. An oil-based moisturiser, such as Shea butter, like this one by Skin Amour in our store, is ideal for your legs. It’s a very similar to your body’s naturally produced oil, sebum, so is absorbed very easily into the skin, plus, over time with regular, daily use, it’s known to fade scars.
Nothing beats that sexy glow you get from tanning. But if you’ve not been lucky enough for a beach getaway for a real tan before summer, or you don’t like spending too much time under the sun, it’s all about sporting that summer glow you get from a bottle. Choose a natural looking fake tan with a great scent that will allow you to build up your tan gradually so you can get that even, sun-kissed glow. Try this self tan lotion by Lavera
Or if you don't mind shelling out a little extra, this TanOrganic fake tan is great.
Before you try any new product, don’t forget to do a patch test to make sure you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients.
